Cornerstone Montessori Summer Camp - Summer Fun 2007!

Come join the fun at Cornerstone Montessori School. Join our classroom teachers as they lead the students through a variety of subjects. The camps are designed to meet the needs of every child preprimary through sixth grade. Our summer program is designed to nurture curiosity, creativity, and imagination. These goals are met through special theme weeks, the classrooms, and the teachers.

The cost of the summer camp program is as follows:

  • Enrichment and Camp: $250 per week (7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.)*
  • Camp: $200 per week (9 a.m.-4 p.m.)
    *There is a $25 per week discount for families that sign up for 8 or more weeks.

June 11-June 15 Experiment Extravaganza

Through demonstrated and hands on experiments the students will learn the basics of Botany, Geology, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. Activities will include Alabaster carving, growing crystals, discovering fossils, making bubble gum, and creating Cornerstone’s permanent outdoor garden. Each day we will focus on a different area of science and the afternoons will be spent gardening.

Materials Fee:  $10

June 18-June 22 Sports of All Sorts

Join us for a week of good old fashioned fun as we learn all of those fun games popular when your parents were children! We will play Ghost in the Graveyard, Capture the Flag, Spud, Croquet, etc. We will also learn how to play volleyball, soccer, basketball (around the world and pig), badminton, and many water games. Each child will need to bring bathing suit, towel, sun screen and goggles if needed for a refreshing dip into the pool. This camp will take place at the Schadler residence.

June 25-June 29 Art, Art, and More Art

Children will use several different mediums to create unique artwork to cherish forever. Projects will include a Roman mosaic, hand built and wheel thrown pottery, acrylic painting, and many more. Each artist will have the opportunity to create with their imagination. Please bring a white t-shirt that can be tye-dyed.

July 2-July 6 Outdoors and Golf (tentative depending on enrollment)

Does you child enjoy golfing and camping?  This is just the camp for you. The children with the help of Nelson Schadler will make a golf club (putter) and collaboratively design and build a putt-putt golf course. There is also plenty of land to practice golf strokes.  We will also learn camping skills and even roast hotdogs and make s’mores. Each child will need to bring a bathing suit, towel, sun screen and goggles if needed for an afternoon dip. This camp will take place at the Schadler residence.

July 9-July 13 Water Fun

Join us at the Schadler's country estate for many water games in and out of the pool. We will play marco polo, sharks and minnows, water polo, category, ball tag, water volleyball, and even learn some water aerobics. Outside the pool we will have water balloon games and the favorite sponge game. We will also play some board games and card games poolside, and Mexican train dominoes. In between the water games, we will play some field games such as different types of relay races. Each child will need to bring bathing suit, towel, sun screen and goggles if needed.

July 16-July 20 Scrapbooking Plus! (3rd grade and older)

Join Miss Melody for a week of scrapbooking and other paper crafts. On Monday, a published scrapbook creator sharing examples of his work will inspire us. We will scrap daily and take time out to marbleize paper, make rubber stamped creations and decoupage. Bring your favorite photos, an 8X8 postbound album and join the fun.

Materials Fee: $10

Crafts (Preprimary-3rd grade)

Miss Nicki will be leading the students through variety of crafts. Some examples include paper mobiles, charm bags, kites, and jewelry. The students will be able to practice their cutting, gluing, and painting skills.

July 23-July 27 Fun with Food

Join Miss Nicki as we explore different foods. We will be using different recipes to make homemade bread, smoothies, pretend soup, shakes, and ice cream. Each student will be able to experience cooking firsthand.

July 30-August 3 Outdoor Art

All children will take part in the design, planning and execution of creating a mural. Time will also be spent identifying art elements in nature and creating projects based around our investigations. We will explore and create artworks involving texture, color, symmetry, and many other concepts!

August 6-August 10 Around the World

Miss Nicki will lead the students through a study of culture on several continents. Students will be exposed to music, art, and food from Europe, South America, Africa, Australia, and Asia. As a part of our study we will be making didgeridoos, drums, and maracas.

August 13-August 17 Classroom Refresher

Get a head start on back to school skills! Your child will get to revisit favorite classroom works while reinforcing math and language skills. Get an early start on reading and file box. Each classroom will have at least one certified teacher available to help students as needed.
